Sterilization Gas
One of the sterilization gases is Ethylene Oxide (C2H4O). Ethylene Oxide is a low temperature sterilization method that is used as an alternative sterilization method for instruments that are neither heat resistant nor moisture resistant which cannot be sterilized using steam sterilization, autoclave.
Ethylene Oxide either in pure state or in mixture with carbon dioxide or halocarbons is used also for sterilization and fumigant in heat sensitive materials. Ethylene Oxide is used for the process of sterilizing containers or infusion bottles, operating equipment and keeping indoor air free from contamination or air pollution. Ethylene Oxide is also used in the sterilization process in baby diapers and sanitary napkins. Ethylene Oxide, among others, is used for fumigation of dry plants (reeds for gazebo houses), furniture and handicrafts.
