1. Environmental

  • Jejak Aksi Gotong Royong for a Sustainable Future in Surabaya

As a company committed to environmental sustainability and community empowerment, we  present the JAGIR program – Footprints of Collaborative Action for Revitalization  Initiatives, a transformational step to restore the Wonokromo River ecosystem while reviving its  social, ecological, and economic functions for the citizens of Surabaya.

JAGIR is the name of the river targeted for revitalization. The name "Jagir" in Javanese  means "small river," but the Jagir River is actually quite long. This river has a long history as  part of the Dutch government's plan to organize Surabaya, giving the city a layout similar to  Amsterdam and making it a comfortable place to live.

Footprint – In this context, "footprint" describes the path or journey we take to achieve our goals. This word represents the actions and steps taken to achieve specific objectives.

Action – This letter symbolizes the idea of taking concrete action or initiative to achieve a  specific goal. Action emphasizes the importance of practical steps towards revitalization.

Gotong royong – This letter affirms the spirit of cooperation and mutual assistance. Gotong  royong emphasizes the importance of working together and utilizing each other's strengths and  resources to achieve goals.

Initiative – Being proactive is crucial to driving positive change and revitalizing the river.  Initiative requires individuals and communities to have commitment and enthusiasm in carrying  out transformation.

Revitalization – This letter represents the ultimate goal of this initiative, namely river revitalization

This program was born out of the condition of the Wonokromo River, which has experienced a  60% decline in water quality, an 80% decline in fish catches, and a high risk of ecosystem  damage due to pollution from waste and runoff from commercial and residential activities. By  involving the government, universities, local communities, and various other stakeholders , the company has taken an active role in restoring the river area to a healthy, safe, and  productive state

Through various activities such as river cleaning, community empowerment, the construction of  a 200-meter jogging track, riverbank greening, and the establishment of the HARTARI  Foundation, the JAGIR program has built a structured and collaborative river revitalization  model. This revitalization provides four main functions for the Wonokromo River: greening,  aquatic ecosystem integration, community recreation, and social functions in the form of public  facilities. The targeted impacts include a 40% reduction in pollution-related health issues, a 15-30% increase in ecotourism revenue, and a 20-25% increase in riverside property values.

JAGIR’s Future Vision

The JAGIR initiative directly supports various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),  including environmental conservation efforts, sustainable urban development, improving public  health, creating green economic opportunities, and strengthening cross-sector partnerships.  Through this program, the company acts as an agent of change that not only improves river  conditions but also builds new living spaces that are greener, more inclusive, and more resilient  for the future of Surabaya.

Utilization of the Jagir River

The Jagir Jogging Track has been actively used by residents around Surabaya as a place for sports and physical activities. Various activities are carried out in this area, such as jogging, group gymnastics, and boxing training. The Jagir Jogging Track provides a comfortable and useful open space for the community to maintain their health and improve their fitness.
