The main component of natural gas is Methane (CH₄).
Methane is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and highly flammable. Natural gas, which consists of methane, is used as a fuel. It is also used in the production of rubber products and in printing processes using ink. High-purity methane combustion is used to produce high-quality carbon black for electronic equipment. Natural gas is rarely used as motor fuel; it is treated as compressed gas stored under high pressure in cylinders or liquid dewars.
